Torso Flexion - TE-860/TE-860-E

The Automated Torso Flexion Fixture is a test device used to determine the resistance to articulation between the upper and lower torso assemblies.  The upper torso assembly is subjected to force continuously applied to a prescribed location, rate and angle acording to the federal rules and regulations stated for the 49 CFR Part 572- Subpart N, O, P, Anthrompomorphic Test Devices.  Using a color touch screen control panel, the operator automatically applies the required pretest motions, rest periods and test durations of the dummy.
 
The Automated Torso Flexion Fixture is capable of testing the Hyrid III 3 year-old, Hybrid III 6 year-old, Hybrid III 10 year-old, Hybrid III 5th percentile Female and Hybrid III 95th male dummies.  The Hybrid III 6 year-old brackets are included in the main assembly (TE-860), the other brackets are sold separately.
 
A unique set of neck and pelvic adaptors are used for each dummy.  The pelvic adapter rigidly mounts the lower torso to the test device.  The neck adapters assure that the load will be applied at a point coaxial to the dummy occipital condyle.  A load cell and a tilt sensor mounted to the neck adapter are used to acquire data.  A PLC controlled stepper motor provides the actuation force to the upper torso through a lightweight steel cable.
